The Prime Minister courted great attention when he said:
"We have got to defeat its ideas and we have got to address the false sense of grievance against the West," he said. "In the end, government cannot root out the extremism in these communities. People should stand up and say, 'you are wrong in your view about the West, you are wrong in your sense of grievance. The whole ideology is profoundly wrong'"
Muslims responded angrily, that their concerns were being belittled - especially regarding Foreign Policy. Others felt the statement was long overdue and that grievance culture had become a negative characteristic of the Muslim community.
Was Tony Blair right or wrong? What are these grievances and can they ever be a justification for extremist actions such as 7/7 and 9/11. How can the divide between the Muslims and Western Society be lessened?
